From the Rocks of the South Valley and made by Sean Boyd (Rotie Cellars) this Syrah shows a deep purplish ruby color and an intense nose of wild blackberries, huckleberries, black currants, crushed roses, mulberry, tobacco, lavender, violets, and spiced incense. The varietal purity continues on the palate, replete with deep, dark fruits that are permeated with licorice, dark cocoa, dark roasted coffee beans and Rocks minerality. The back reveals sensations of roasted berries and nuts, suede leather, toffee, crème de cassis and burnt charcoal, all culminating in a lengthy, forceful, spiced (nutmeg, clove) ripe tannin finish. 19.5/20 points.
